Hi my name is Jeane (she-her)
I am the founder and main creator at Galerie Jeane, a multidisciplinary makers studio in the Gowanus, Brooklyn. I have always had a connection with the forest and the woods from my upbringing in northern Quebec. I moved from Quebec to the jungles of Costa Rica, where I learned traditional techniques of working with handtools and crafted my first live edge table, twenty years ago. The simple nature of working slabs made me realize the impact my woodwork can have on nature from taking tree down to using green energy, to sourcing appropriately and responsibly. For that reason I created my own design and creative studio Most of my pieces are custom designed in partnership with my clients, to allow everyone to have an original piece of art in their home that is made just to their specifications. I am grateful for the challenges presented by each piece, and the opportunity to be creative every day. If you don't see exactly what you want on the site, don't worry! Nearly every piece is made to order -- please just drop us a note to talk about what you need, don't miss our instagram @galeriejeane We source our wood within a close network of small businesses and families who invest in salvaged and reclaimed lumber, always keeping in mind our responsibility as makers to make as little waste as possible. We have none, we reuse all of our wood in one way or another. We make pieces for designers, architects and local families, all of our work is commissioned. |
And now, Michelle!
From inventory to keeping in touch with clients, Michelle is always the fire burning behind the scenes. It is thanks to her hard work and dedication to customer satisfaction and detail that I am able to create every day. She also directs multiple international public health projects to bring better healthcare to women and young people around the world. Together we also created Uplift Health, which allows HIV+ young people in Haiti to access educational resources. |
This is a safe place for transgender and lgbtq community to shop.
